Hedgerow safari at Cream o' Galloway

Hedgerow Safari

This event lasts around 40 minutes

Help us discover which small creatures make their home in the hedgerows of Cream o’ Galloway! Join us on a Hedgerow Safari where we’ll open eight small mammal traps to see whether mice, voles or other small creatures have been feasting on our autumn berries!

We will take a walk along the nature trails of Cream o’ Galloway where your guide will retrieve eight small mammal traps that have been set the evening before. Small mammal traps are a safe and humane way to monitor the presence of small mammals in different habitats and our traps are set by experienced guides.

Your guide will tell you all about the small mammals that are typically found in our hedgerows, and children will have an opportunity to ask lots of questions.

Each family group will have the opportunity to open one of the traps. Traps are not checked prior to the event starting, so there is no guarantee that any small mammals will be found in the traps.

This event is priced per group of up to 3 children working together.

Hedgerow Safari is designed for children aged 5 years or older. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
