Cream o' Galloway - Simply Natural

Explore the trails

We are very proud of our environment here at Cream o' Galloway, and we want you to enjoy it.  We have built two miles of buggy/wheelchair friendly nature trails, taking in two wildlife lochans, a wildlife hide, acres of young woodland and some stately ancient woodland too.  Wildlife sightings along the trails have included fox, roe deer, dozens of dragonflies and butterflies, frogs and toads and almost 60 species of bird.  There are a further 1 ½ miles of more rugged trails, leading through permanent pasture and the ancient woodland of the Glen.  In springtime this offers the stunning spectacle of a carpet of bluebells, and in summer the woods reverberate with the calls of migrant warblers and songbirds and the rattle of woodpeckers.  Red squirrels also put in an appearance, particularly in the autumn when they are so busy collecting hazelnuts they may not see you approaching!  The trails are as follows:

Purple trail: 1 ¼ miles (buggy friendly) mini map for web.jpg

Green trail: 1 ¾ miles (buggy friendly)

Red trail: 1 mile

Blue trail: 2 miles

To make the trails even more fun for children, we have a range of puzzle sheets available to be completed en route.

We have a ¾ mile long dog walk through some of our newly planted woodland.  This area is fenced-in allowing dogs to run free while you enjoy the young ash, oak and crab-apple trees and the many birds and insects which thrive amongst them.  If you're very lucky you may even spot one of our resident adders along here - unloved by some but very welcome here as they keep the tree-munching bank-voles at bay!
