Primary School Visits

So many options to choose from! Whatever you choose, we include an ice cream for each child and time in our adventure playground.

At Cream o' Galloway we're always happy to adapt any event or activity to fit your current classroom topics. Storytime
Half an hour of stories about the farm and wildlife followed by an ice cream and as much play as you can fit in. ·
Suitable for : Nursery to P1
Cost : £5.00 per child.

The Farm
Take a guided tour of our organic farm and dairy to learn about milking, farming and ice cream production. To see lambs come in March and to see calves come between November and April. Popular with primary, secondary and further education groups.
Suitable for : P1-7
Cost : £5.50 per child.

Sensory Investigations
Take a walk around the garden using your senses. Collect natural materials and make a collage to take home.  Especially popular with nurseries and playgroups.
Suitable for : Nursery to P4
Cost : £5.50 per child.

Habitats & Minibeasts with Pond Dipping
Discover what lives in the nooks and crannies around Cream o' Galloway and compare the creatures from dry-land with those living in the pond. Great fun and ideal for environmental/conservation topics.
Suitable for : P1-7
Cost : £5.50 per child.

Trees, Trees, Trees
Meet the trees in our woodlands, both old and new. Climb the playground viewing tower to see over the forest canopy, then discover our new woodland by making leaf and bark rubbings. A great addition to any environmental or conservation project.
Suitable for : P3-7
Cost : £5.50 per child.

Energy & Recycling
Learn about wind and solar power and how we make, use and save energy at Cream o' Galloway.  This topical tour includes the chance to try recycling hands-on by making your own paper to take home.  
Suitable for : P5-7
Cost : £7.00 per child.

Ice Cream Making : Ready Steady Freeze
The 'Full Monty': a behind the scenes look at our ice cream factory and the chance to make - and eat - your own ice cream.  This activity offers the opportunity to develop enterprise themes including making a product, designing the packaging and marketing the product.  Always a winner, this event is enjoyed by children and adults alike!
Minimum 8 children, maximum 21 per session.
Suitable for : P3-7
Cost : £8.00 per child.

Fairtrade Flavours
Taste 6 different ice cream flavours learning about our Fairtrade and organic ingredients from all over the world. Learn how our factory works, see raw ingredients and hear about the hygiene rules as you get dressed up in the factory uniform. 
Suitable for : P5-7
Cost : £5.50 per child. 

Orienteering
Choose your course around the nature trails using a professional orienteering map to learn map skills.  Search for the control points and collect a set of letters or punches as you go.
Suitable for : P3-7
Cost : £5.50 per child.

Adventure Playground Team Building Challenge
Working in teams of 3 or 5, undertake challenges throughout the playground testing your creative skills, team work and communication skills. Only available after hours or during the winter months.
Suitable for : P4-7
Cost : £8.00 per child.

Simply Play
Enjoy as long as you like in our adventure playground between the hours of 10am and 5pm and have an ice cream (Karts and rides will not be available). 
Suitable for : Nursery to P7
Cost : £5.50 per child.

Slides & Karts
Enjoy the whole playground and have unlimited rides on the Pedal Karts, Flying Fox zip wire and our 'Down the Hatch' barrel slide, plus an ice cream.
Suitable for : P5-7
Cost : £10.00 per child.


Make a day of it! Combine two activities from the above list and deduct £3 per child from the combined total.

On a school day all adults are admitted free.

With the exception of the advanced orienteering trail, all of these group events are wheelchair friendly.

Groups are also welcome to enjoy ‘self-led' activities such as nature-trail puzzle sheets and play in the adventure playground.

We are able to open up our organic farm and nature trails to school visits with funding assistance from Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH). To find out more about the work of SNH, go to www.snh.org.uk
