What can I see on a Cream o Galloway Farm Tour

Wildlife

poplarhawkmoth170.jpgRainton Farm and Cream o' Galloway are a wonderful haven for wildlife.  830 acres of farmland has been managed organically since 2001 meaning no artificial pesticides have been applied to the land which is hugely beneficial to our local wildlife.

Tens of thousands of native trees have been planted in recent years and three new ponds created on over 80 acres of the farm from which grazing animals have been excluded. The nature trails encourage you to explore these areas, including a mature wooded glen where some of the more elusive animals such as red squirrels can sometimes be spotted.

We’ve been recording the wildlife that’s been spotted at Cream o’ Galloway for several years and we send our records to the regional Environmental Resources Centre every year, so we really appreciate the help of visitors who share their wildlife spots with us.  If you’ve seen any interesting wildlife during a visit to Cream o’ Galloway be sure to tell us about it by emailing us.

And if you’ve taken any good photos of wildlife, or of any aspect of Cream o’ Galloway, why not enter our annual Photo Competition?  If you are happy for your photo to potentially be used on our website or other promotional material then email your photo to Helen.  At the end of the year we’ll provide the winners with delicious ice cream prizes!
