Wildlife Events

Throughout the year we run a series of one-off special events covering a huge range of topics from bats to birds to beasties. Join in the fun of our wildlife events, designed to give you the chance to take a closer look at the fabulous natural world around us here at Cream o' Galloway. 

Some of these special events have very limited places.

Feed the Birds!

Tuesday 14th February, 11am to 1pm.
Drop in to our 'Feed the Birds' activity make fat ball feeders to take home and extras to hang in the trees at Cream o' Galloway.

Wildlife Watch & Birdy Art Activities

Tuesday 3rd & 10th April, 11am to 4pm
Come along and join staff and volunteers from RSPB Mersehead for some pond dipping. Also why not have a go at Bird Bingo and make a wrist flapper, snapper or mask to take home.

Bird Song in May

Saturday 12th May, 10.30am
Join local bird expert, Graham Smith from the Scottish Wildlife Trust on a stroll around the nature trails at Cream o' Galloway listening for the fabulous May-time birdsong. Starting at 10.30am, we could be out on the trails for up to 3 hours if conditions are good ...

Dawn Chorus Walk

Sunday 6th May, 4.30am to 8.30am
Starting as dawn breaks, explore the different habitats of Cream o' Galloway listening for the fabulous range of bird songs as the birds mark their territories and search for a mate. Then its back to the centre for a 'Flavour Tasters' breakfast.

Bird Calls for Beginners

Tuesday 5th June, 11am to 1pm
Find out how to tell the difference between the calls of a robin and a wren, a chaffinch and great tit plus many more wonderful bird songs on this easy walk around the trails at Cream o' Galloway.

Bat Night

Wednesday 6th June, 8.30pm to 10.30pm
Fun activities to find out more about bats followed by some bat spotting once it gets dark. Bring a torch and some warm clothes.

Hedgerow Safari

June 7th, October 16th, 23rd & 30th
Search for small mammals in the hedgerow habitats of Cream o' Galloway and find out why the organic lands of Rainton are so valuable, with·support from OMSCO, the Organic Milk Suppliers Cooperative.

Gala Day Pondemonium
