Farm Tour

2.45pm to 4pm Daily

farmTourFind out what goes on behind the scenes at Cream o’ Galloway by taking part in our daily farm tour.   Starting in the visitor centre you’ll go on a short guided walk around our farm, taking in the sheep pens or ‘buchts’, the milking parlour and other notable spots on the farm.

During the tour you’ll hear about Rainton’s history, our conversion to organic farming and the things that keep us busy today.  The tour is timed so you can see the dairy herd coming in for their afternoon milking, and at certain times of year we will also introduce you to our new calves and lambs.

There are radical developments afoot at Rainton with the building of a new dairy where the dairy cows will keep their calves with them - a practice virtually unheard of in the UK dairy industry. On the tour you'll see the new dairy building going up and hear how a biodigester will become part of the new set up too.

At the end of the tour you’ll enjoy the end result – a free scoop of your favourite flavour of ice cream!   The route is suitable for those with buggies or wheelchairs.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

The tour lasts around 1 ¼ hours and is popular with all age groups. Tours start at 2.45pm daily.

The cost is £4.50 per person. Booking is strongly recommended, call 01557 815 222 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to check availability.
