The rich, creamy milk we produce on Rainton Farm means our milk is perfect for cheese making. Reintroducing cheese making to our farm in 2013 after a 40 year break gave us an opportunity to experiment and explore the flavours and textures of different types of cheese. We now have a list of firm favours all made by hand with passion and care.
Drop into our visitor centre to sample the cheeses or book a place on our farm tour which runs daily between March and October. You'll find more information about our daily tours on our events page.
We are delighted to have won some awards during 2016. Our Tomme won a silver award at the British Cheese Awards held at the Bath Show during the spring bank holiday.
Cream o’ Galloway won four awards including Best Micro Producer, at the Artisan Cheese Awards held in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire at the start of May 2016. As well as scooping the Best Micro Producer title, three different cheeses from the Finlay’s Farmhouse Cheese range won individual gold, silver and bronze awards - Carrick cheese was awarded gold, Tomme received a silver and the Laganory cheese was given a bronze award.
In 2015 Sarah our cheesemaker won a silver award for 'novice cheesemaker' and our Carrick cheese won a gold award at the International Cheese Awards held at Nantwich. We won a silver award at the British Cheese Awards held at the Bath Show too!
