Adventure Playground

altThe adventures never stop at Cream o’ Galloway and our Adventure Playground keeps on growing!  Designed and built by our own farm staff the playground is split into four levels.

Level 1 includes the mini-maze, the roundabout, a mini zip slide and the chance to pit your balancing skills against the assault course.  'The Tree House', a great little shelter high up off the ground with a viewing platform up above the kart track.

Level 2 includes more balancing beams under the shade of conifers and oak trees, the monkey-bars, scramble nets and a wooden wall to struggle over.

Over the wooden bridge, Level 3 includes the Cra’s Nest, a 50-foot viewing tower with spectacular views over the highest oak trees into the surrounding countryside. On the way up you can climb ropes, slip down chutes and peer down on the rooks’ nests.

Level 4 is our famous 3D maze, best reached via a chute from the viewing tower. Clamber through hoops and nets, up ladders and ropes and through tunnels as you try to make your way to the exit. Don’t get lost!

The Cra’s Nest Viewing Tower

alt

The 50 foot Viewing Tower is quite literally the crowning glory of our adventure playground. It gives you superb views into the Galloway hills, out to sea and even to the Isle of Man on clear days.

The tower is also ideal for viewing things closer at hand.  Taking you up into the woodland canopy it offers a perfect place to catch a glimpse of the bird and insect life which rely on the oak woodland for shelter and food.

Best of all, it takes you to the very heart of our rookery, where every spring the rooks set up home in their ramshackle nests and raise their new broods. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only place in Europe that offers such views!  We think we have over thirty nests in the playground woods – can you count any more?

The rooks are joined by woodpeckers, blue and great tits, goldcrests and wrens, as well as a host of seasonal visitors. So if you fancy working off that sundae, climbing up the tower is an experience not to be missed!
